Dermatology AI for dark and pigmented skin
DermAI studies how well artificial intelligence recognises skin disease on Fitzpatrick skin types IV to VI, in collaboration with consultant dermatologists in Nigeria.

Skin disease can look different on darker skin.
Redness, scale and changes in pigment can present differently on pigmented skin, and most images used to develop dermatology AI show lighter skin. Clinicians and patients need to know how well these tools work for people with darker skin.
